STC Overview

The Society For Technical Communication (STC) is the world's largest professional organization dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practice of technical communication. Currently, STC has over 25,000 members registered in over 141 chapters worldwide. STC offers local chapter meetings, regional seminars and international conferences to interest both entry-level and veteran communicators, and to keep its members aware of the latest trends and technology in technical communication.

The members of STC include writers and editors, graphic artists and technical illustrators, managers and supervisors, educators and students, independent consultants, contractors, and photographers and audiovisual specialists.

In addition to programs, STC offers several publications to its members. The national office produces the highly respected quarterly journal Technical Communication which publishes thought-provoking articles on subjects of interest and academic research. A monthly magazine, Intercom, keeps members up-to-date on the latest professional news and Society activities. STC also produces a quarterly newsletter for students only entitled Interchange. This student publication links student members with the world of professional technical communication and recognizes the achievements of student members.
